Promo Pic 2 (Sept 2016) editedAs the network supervising producer for Global News, I play a key role in monitoring, coordinating and delivering breaking news for all platforms. I also oversee content for the Global News streaming app.

As the sole evening representative of Global’s Network News Desk, I triage live interview requests from local show producers, provide editorial guidance for reporters and develop coverage plans for major news events.

Previously, I worked with Global Saskatoon for six-and-a-half years as a supervising reporter and anchor. I regularly led coverage for Saskatchewan’s two largest cities, often filing content for markets across Canada and for Global National.

As a journalist and supervisor, I love tackling every kind of story imaginable and recognize how a modern reporter needs to be skilled in broadcasting, web reporting and social media.

In the aftermath of the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy, I delivered multi-platform coverage for eleven consecutive days. My stories touched on the deeply personal experiences of devastated families, while also breaking news related to the RCMP’s investigation.

I have also been a central figure in national coverage of high-profile court proceedings, including the trial of Gerald Stanley and the sentencing of a teenaged mass shooter who opened fire at a high school in La Loche in January 2016.

On the lighter side, I played ping pong with seniors combating Alzheimer’s Disease and made Christmas cards with a five-year-old boy raising money for a friend. I shared the story of a 96-year-old woman reunited with her wartime love letters.

I also have experience on the desk, most notably as an anchor for Saskatchewan’s provincial and civic elections in 2020.

As a supervisor in Saskatchewan, I also oversaw the work of a small but mighty team of reporters. I was responsible for hiring, training and mentoring video journalists in Saskatoon. When I left the Bridge City in April 2022, I had hired, trained and mentored every digital broadcast journalist left at the station.

Before landing in Saskatchewan’s largest city, I was a reporter and anchor for CKPG News in Prince George, British Columbia.

News in Northern B.C.’s hub ranged from grassroots community efforts to national events like the 2015 Canada Winter Games. After a sawmill explosion killed two Prince George men and rocked an already struggling industry, I was tasked with covering the Lakeland Mills inquest.

While studying at Red River College (RRC), and after graduation in 2013, I worked as a radio reporter and a news/sports anchor for 680 CJOB. At the same time, I was also part of a producing team that put together Winnipeg’s number one morning show, CTV Morning Live. During July and August of 2013, I had zero days off, many late nights and even more early mornings.

In RRC’s Creative Communications program, I learned from industry professionals. Highlights include executive producing and co-hosting a nine-hour telethon, producing and reporting for the campus news television program and participating in several live radio shows.

Outside the classroom, I interned for Canada’s History magazine, where I put together a project on the early history of the National Hockey League and produced feature content for the magazine’s print and online editions.

As a Winnipeg Jets superfan, I was pleased to join the communications staff of the Jets for the shortened 2012-2013 season. In addition to nail biting and hand wringing during close games, I also attended post-game news conferences and compiled audio clips from players and coaching staff.

I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from The University of Winnipeg. My years of studying at one of Canada’s top undergraduate universities reinforced my love of writing, not only as an occupation, but also for recreation. A 2012 short story featured in juice, a student-led literary journal, was my first piece of published fiction.

When I am not meeting deadlines and holding power to account, I love running, kayaking and camping. If it is raining, I’m just as happy staying inside and catching up on an HBO drama or dreaming of the day I’ll finally own a four-legged friend.
